Within the delegated authority and under the supervision of the Director-General’s Representative for Evaluation and Organizational Learning (or his designated mandated representative), the Evaluation Specialist will report to a Headquarters-based Evaluation Senior Officer and will work in close collaboration with relevant programme managers at the three levels of the Organization (country, regional and global). The UN Volunteer Evaluation Specialist will undertake a variety of tasks to support the WHO Evaluation Office in the successful completion of its Work Plan. The Evaluation Specialist will engage in evaluation-related tasks, including:
Support to Management of evaluations: Conduct background research on policy/strategy/programme/offices or task force/partnership or other subject of evaluation being evaluated as per the WHO organization workplan, and research respective global, regional and/or country operating contexts; Furthermore, UN Volunteers are required to:- Strengthen their knowledge and understanding of the concept of volunteerism by reading relevant UNV and external publications and take active part in UNV activities (for instance in events that mark International Volunteer Day)- Be acquainted with and build on traditional and/or local forms of volunteerism in the host country- Provide annual and end of assignment reports on UN Volunteer actions, results and opportunities using UNV’s Volunteer Reporting Application- Contribute articles/write-ups on field experiences and submit them for UNV publications/websites, newsletters, press releases, etc.- Assist with the UNV Buddy Programme for newly-arrived UN Volunteers- Promote or advise local groups in the use of online volunteering, or encourage relevant local individuals and organizations to use the UNV Online Volunteering service whenever technically possible. Results/Expected Outputs As an active WHO team member, the selected individual will provide efficient, timely, responsive and high-quality support to the WHO Evaluation Office. In so doing, they will contribute to the Evaluation Office’s targeted result of producing credible and useful evaluations that enhance organizational learning within WHO, engaging in a variety of activities and producing a range of outputs leading to results.
