
Bridget is an independent evaluation consultant, with over 40 years’ experience in international development, specialising in social development and evaluation. She started her career briefly in academia, and subsequently worked with a range of bi-lateral, multilateral and international NGOs. She has held management, advisory and implementation roles in UK, Africa, Asia and Brazil. She was seconded as a UK national expert in evaluation to the European Commission 2012-2017, prior to becoming Head of Evaluation Profession for DFID. Her experience includes conducting and commissioning evaluations, training and analysis. She has substantial experience in the management of strategic, complex evaluations.
Recent work includes, a review of evaluation systems in UK, US and Japan, advising the UK Department, Natural England, on the development of their departmental evaluation system. She has also worked on a range of issues including theory of change, systems approaches to evaluation, evidence use, corporate evaluation policy, quality assurance, and has a strong interest in monitoring and evaluation for transformational change. She has delivered various training courses in monitoring and evaluation, including at the College of Bruges, and co-facilitating SHIPDET in 2024.
As a former Vice-President, then President of the UK Evaluation Society she worked with the Board to grow the Society and give it new direction, including innovative opportunities for members.
Bridget is a member of the advisory panel of the UK Building Regulator, a member of UK Evaluation Society, and Friend of the International Academy for Evaluation.
