The Climate MEL Systems Academy, taking place from 13–17 July 2026 in Bern, Switzerland, is a new training program  by IPDET designed to strengthen how monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) can support climate transitions.

The Academy brings together experienced evaluators and practitioners to work on real-world climate challenges, with a focus on moving beyond project-level approaches toward system-level thinking and decision-making. Participants will develop practical tools, including a draft Climate MEL framework, and explore how evidence can better inform climate policy and investment decisions.

The program is particularly relevant for:

  • Evaluators and MEL professionals working on climate, environment, or sustainability
  • Practitioners interested in system-level approaches
  • Advisors and decision-makers engaged in climate policy, finance, or programs

A limited number of scholarships are available, and I thought this could be of interest for emergent evaluators, particularly in the Global South, with an interest in climate evaluation. The deadline for scholarship applications is 17 April 2026 (9:00 AM CEST).

Please feel free to share this opportunity with colleagues who may be interested.

For more information please reach out to Marina Cracco, Learning Coordinator at IPDET.
