The UNDP Independent Evaluation Office (IEO) is organizing the 8th National Evaluation Capacities Conference (NEC 2024) in Yanqing, Beijing from 14 to 18 October 2024. The Conference is co-hosted by the China International Development Cooperation Agency (CIDCA). The NEC Conference is organized in collaboration with the Global Evaluation Initiative (GEI).

The theme of the 2024 NEC Conference is “Responsive Evaluation: For Government, For Inclusion, For the Future.” This theme underscores the importance of sharing progress and lessons learned in strengthening national evaluation systems, their role in achieving the SDGs and other development goals, and how new technologies and approaches in evaluation can facilitate the achievement of the SDGs.

The primary audience of NEC 2024 is government officials from national and sub-national institutions directly and indirectly engaged with evaluation and public policy, including central planning and finance ministries, sectoral ministries, evaluation units, national statistical agencies, and supreme audit institutions. Other evaluation stakeholders include civil society, academia, the private sector, UNDP, and UN agencies and partner staff engaged in supporting national governments on evaluation, governance and/or the SDG agenda.

This is a ‘by invitation only’ conference. IEO is soliciting abstracts for NEC 2024, which will be used to design various conference sessions. IEO strongly encourages interested institutions or individuals to submit their ideas and areas of interest through the Call for Abstracts. The deadline for submitting an abstract is 28 June 2024. Please feel free to disseminate this “Call for Abstracts” message to any interested parties in your network.

More information is available on the conference website. If you have any questions, please contact the NEC Conference Secretariat Team at ieo.nec@undp.org.
