The Lutheran World Federation (LWF) is a global communion of 148 churches in the Lutheran tradition, representing over 77 million Christians in 99 countries. LWF strives to put faith into action within and beyond the communion. This action takes a variety of forms from theological reflection and dialogue with other churches and faiths, to deepening relationships, sharing about our faith, serving those in need and advocating for a more just, peaceful and reconciled world.

The approach of the program can be described as «Human and Institutional Capacity Development» (HICD). HICD means not only to enhance churches’ human resource capacities, but that these capacities enhance churches’ overall institutional performance for an improved diaconal ministry, which contributes effectively towards the development of the wider community. The scholarships are not about helping individuals pursue their careers. Rather they are about long-term capacity building within the churches for the sake of society. This is why a strong link between the proposed study program and the diaconal work of the respective church is a crucial criterion in the selection of candidates.

The Lutheran World Federation is now looking for a consultant. for scholarship programme evaluation.
