Triple Line Consultants typically have at least a year of relevant work experience and are starting their consultancy career, working in teams with colleagues of varying seniority. You will be involved in a diverse range of assignments and proposals for clients throughout the world, particularly Africa and Asia, focused on monitoring, evaluation and learning so that clients can strengthen how they delivery development interventions. Assignments range from a few months to several years in length, and from single country projects to multi-country programmes.
You will be a core part of our established and growing team of passionate and like-minded international development specialists, contributing to the growth and effectiveness of the MEL team, its pipeline of work and its collaborative work with colleagues across the company. You will develop your knowledge and skills through training and career development opportunities. The job will involve occasional overseas travel as needed by clients.
Main responsibilities
Consultants work in Triple Line’s teams on both delivering monitoring, evaluation and learning assignments and supporting business development / tendering for work. You will work with colleagues to undertake data collection (e.g. through document review, literature scans, interviews, focus groups); analysis including for example classification and coding of qualitative data, and quantitative data analysis; and other research and analysis tasks as required.
Specific tasks are expected to include:
• Desk research: Collect data from public websites and databases, survey work, or programme documentation, review literature on selected issues and prepare concise summaries or analyses as required.
• Qualitative data collection and analysis: undertaking key informant interviews and note taking, relevant qualitative data analysis tasks (data cleaning and coding) and support to the final reporting findings.
• Quantitative data collection and analysis: including preparation of data collection plans and instruments (such as questionnaires), use of online surveys (e.g. Alchemer), data entry and maintenance of databases, preparation of charts and tables, and support in data analyses.
• Data reporting: generate reports from datasets including data visualisation (charts, tables, etc.) and PowerPoint presentations, synthesise analysed data into succinct summaries, support in report writing and production (editing, formatting etc.).
•Data quality assurance: contribute to ensuring that information being collected and analysed complies with proposed methodologies and meets rigorous standards.
Other general tasks will include:
• Support to project management and administration, data entry and maintenance, project summaries and support for proposals
• Working with team members to share learning from projects within Triple Line, for example at end of assignment / after training, through Brown Bag Lunches or team meetings.
About you
You are keen to work collaboratively with and support colleagues. You have a positive approach to work, being quick to learn, someone who takes the initiative and who contributes ideas and knowledge, whilst being willing to ask for guidance or clarification when needed. You enjoy finding creative solutions to problems and being stretched, yet undertake more routine tasks efficiently and reliably.
Essential
– Bachelors or equivalent degree
– Established research and analytical skills including skills in qualitative analysis and at least basic statistical / quantitative analysis.
– Some understanding of gender equality and inclusion considerations within research practice generally, and international development specifically.
– Strong written, editorial, presentational and verbal communication skills with good attention to detail, able to present and explain data and conclusions clearly, visually and accurately.
– Self-starter able to plan, prioritise and manage workload effectively with limited supervision (within a clear remit), and take the initiative.
– Organised, reliable and accurate, able to adapt to changing priorities when demanded, deal with occasional pressure and deliver work to agreed deadlines.
– A team player who is a fast learner and able to work supportively and collaboratively with others.
– Excellent standard of written and spoken English
– Advanced MS office skills (e.g. MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
– Eligible to live and work in the UK; willing and able to travel internationally
Desirable
– Master’s degree or other post-graduate qualification in a relevant subject – e.g., social sciences (geography, development studies, gender studies, public policy, international relations), economics, business, environmental science, languages.
– Qualifications or modules taken in research skills (qualitative or quantitative).
– Experience working in monitoring, evaluation and learning in international development
– Knowledge of software packages for qualitative and/or quantitative analysis.
– A flair for visual presentation and experience of using data visualisation software/techniques
– Experience of working in lower income countries (preferably in Africa or Asia).
– Proficiency in French, Spanish or other languages
