International Alert is recruiting a Design, Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning Adviser – UK

This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and ambitious candidate to play a key role in coordinating and advising a global team in monitoring, evaluation and learning (DMEL).

This position is ideal for someone with strong proven experience in coordinating DMEL processes in international programmes. You will be a key driver of quality, impact, and innovation at International Alert, one of the world’s largest and most respect peacebuilding organisations with a 30-year track record.

Reporting to the Director of Programmes, you will provide leadership in DMEL, supporting optimal programme quality and steering organisation-wide DMEL resources, policies and processes. Working closely with our Programmes and Resource Development teams, you will support specific country and thematic projects by developing monitoring and evaluation strategies and processes. You will convene and guide a global network of DMEL contact persons, providing targeted support for practitioners and training of trainers, as well as supporting critical communication on impact through both internal and external outreach that makes the case for peacebuilding.

You will be joining International Alert at an exciting time of change as we begin the implementation of our COVID-19 Resilience Plan. Throughout this period, you will be instrumental in advancing and upgrading our organisational impact and learning agenda, ensuring best practice throughout our global programming portfolio as well as undertaking evaluation of internal change processes and participating in important organisational conversations.

We are seeking an organised and innovative candidate with excellent theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices of DMEL in the peacebuilding sector, alongside a degree in a relevant subject. You will have at least 3 years successful proven experience of implementing or coordinating DMEL processes at project level and feel confident in drawing on your professional experiences in supporting and guiding others to deliver sustained peacebuilding impact in our countries of operation.

You will be fluent in English and French with excellent written and communication skills and an ability to tailor your advice and support to the needs of each team and task. You will be a motivated and dynamic individual, capable of building strong networks with people from diverse backgrounds and roles and flexible and adaptable where needed as you undertake further opportunities to learn about Alert’s work.
