The Systems Thematic Group of the European Evaluation Society will sponsor a dialogue/debate between Michael C. Jackson, University of Hull, and Michael Quinn Patton, Utilisation-Focused Evaluation on systems approaches to evaluation.
- The American Evaluation Association Systems Topical Interest Group (SETIG) has developed principles to guide systems-oriented evaluation.*
- Michael C. Jackson has argued that Critical Systems Practice can provide a more coherent and ambitious way of using systems thinking in evaluation **
- Michael Quinn Patton has defended the use of systems concepts and principles, and posited weaknesses in applying Critical Systems Practice in evaluation. ***
On February 27, they will engage together virtually in a search for a golden mean for systemic evaluation. The session is free and open to all.
