On May 5–6, 2022, the Romanian Ministry of Investments and European Projects, together with the Romanian Evaluation Network, will organize, under the project Technical Assistance for Supporting the Evaluation Capacity, the international evaluation conference: Evaluation of ESIF interventions in Europe. Between tradition and innovation.

The event is dedicated to representatives of the public administration, academic and research environment, experts involved in the public policy and programme evaluation, as well as Romanian civil society representatives interested in aspects related to the evaluation practice. The event will gather around 300-400 participants from Romania and from the European Union Member States.

The conference purpose is to support the European approaches to the evaluation of public policy interventions financed during the programming period 2021-2027, based on the lessons learned from 2014-2020 European Structural and Investment Funds evaluations. The event will host debates and exchanges of lessons learned on:

  • Challenges and opportunities in public policy evaluation which emerged during the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as the pressing need for digitalization;
  • Changes or transformations likely to be expected over the next years in the field of evaluation and in the actual modus operandi of public and private organizations concerned;
  • The need and capacity of adaptation to the new global trends, as well as the possible reluctance to change of evaluation stakeholders, including in terms of adopting innovative methods and tools for evaluation and data collection;
  • Sharing the results obtained and lessons learned over the programming period 2014-2020 in social policies, research, development and innovation and territorial cohesion, and how they could support interventions and evaluations within the financial framework of 2021-2027, including those on resilience.

The event structure involves the organization of plenary sessions for debate and respectively thematic sessions on the exchange of practices and lessons learned. The event will enjoy the active contribution of representatives of European and national institutions, of the academic and research environment, as well as international evaluation professionals.

The international conference will be organized in a hybrid format, the venue for the physical deployment of the event being Hotel Radisson Blu-Bucharest, respectively online.
