Brief outline of Project
The Drin River Basin, spanning Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Montenegro, is home to large forests, diverse wildlife, and vital freshwater resources. Over the last three decades, these forests have been heavily exploited and face significant challenges stemming from unsustainable practices and the impacts of climate change. Framework conditions have been created but there is a lack of practical scalable approaches and know-how that involve local communities and show the benefits of sustainable forest management. Therefore, the regional project “Integrated Forest Management (IFM) in the Western Balkans”, running from December 2022 to December 2025, aims to promote sustainable forest and conservation management as well as regional economic development in the transboundary catchment area of the Drin River. Recognising the importance of gender equality in achieving sustainable development, the project also addresses gender-related issues through the conduction of gender analyses and action plans for all four countries, capacity building for gender mainstreaming in the area of climate change and IFM, gender equality workshops and events.
Key information to encourage interest:
We would like to draw your attention to the planned mid-term evaluation of the Integrated Forest Management (IFM) project along the transboundary Drin River Basin. We welcome offers until February 5th, 2025.
Recognizing the importance of sustainable forest management for ecological balance and regional development, this project, co-funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA), is managed by ICEP and implemented by the regional NGO Connecting Nature Valuing People (CNVP). Covering Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, and Montenegro from December 2022 to November 2025, the project focuses on sustainable forest management, biodiversity conservation, and community development. The evaluation will particularly focus on regional cooperation and knowledge-sharing mechanisms, in line with OECD-DAC standards.
We are seeking experienced evaluators who can engage with stakeholders across the four countries from February to June 2025. For more details, please refer to the link ToR Evaluation Integrated Forest Management.
