In June 2024, the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) signed a collaborative agreement with the Global Alliance for Livestock Veterinary Medicines (GALVmed) and the United Kingdom Veterinary Medicines Directorate (UK VMD to implement a Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-(BFMG) funded project that aims to strengthen regulatory systems for veterinary medicines in Sub-Saharan Africa.

The project officer will be responsible for the evaluation of a Regulatory Self-Assessment (SA) tool, developed by the UK VMD, determining how this SA tool aligns with and complements other existing tools and evaluation systems around veterinary medicinal products (pharmaceuticals & vaccines), advising on its design and further development, under a One Health approach, for an eventual global deployment after consideration by WOAH’s World Assembly of Delegates.

The project officer, will also be responsible for the implementation of WOAH’s roadmap for the registration of diagnostics kits. This will include the exploration of mechanisms to facilitate regulatory harmonization of diagnostic kits, in parallel to assessing the value of setting minimum criteria needed for reliable registration of diagnostic kits, facilitating accessibility to WOAH Members
