Brief outline of Project:
War Child Canada is an international humanitarian organization, based in Canada, which has over twenty years of experience working globally with conflict-affected communities, much of it in sub-Saharan Africa.
War Child Canada has been implementing the Back To Learning (B2L) project in South Kivu, an education and protection program aimed at integrating hundreds of young out-of-school girls and boys into the non-formal education system. (School Remedial Centers – CRS) so that they then join the formal education system. B2L is implemented for 4 years (2023-2026) in the cities of Bukavu and Uvira, and primarily targets out-of-school children aged 9 to 16. The objective of the B2L II project is to improve the learning outcomes of children, particularly girls, by increasing access to education for out-of-school children, by supporting the implementation of innovative pedagogy ( Interactive Education through Radio) within the three partner CRS, and by training Educators in the promotion of children’s rights and the psychosocial care of child victims of violence.
The project also strengthens the sustainability of the CRS by supporting the development and management of an Income Generating Activity. In order to improve the learning conditions and daily lives of the most vulnerable learners, War Child Canada wishes to develop and share with the families of these learners a directory of organizations and institutions based in Bukavu and Uvira that can provide support to these families in different areas such as health, nutrition, housing, socio-economic development, adult literacy, etc.
They are seeking to recruit a consultant whose mission will be to identify these organizations, based in Bukavu and Uvira, as well as the services they offer and the conditions of membership.
The candidate must be able to demonstrate an excellent level of French and Swahili (written and spoken).
