Brief outline of Project:

IREX plans to: 1) train and support teachers at eight pilot schools to deliver a Critical Digital Engagement Curriculum to students in after-school settings; 2) engage parents and caregivers from eight pilot school communities in targeted workshops around a Parents and Caregivers’ Guide to Critical Digital Engagement; 3) assess changes in the digital engagement knowledge, skills, attitudes, and reported behaviors of students, teachers, and parents and caregivers in the pilot schools and four control schools to evaluate the effectiveness and scalability of the pilot project.

Target engagements include:
– 32 teachers from eight schools trained to confidently and effectively implement the Critical Digital Engagement Curriculum.
– At least 600 students in eight schools learning from the Critical Digital Engagement Curriculum.
– At least 60 parents and caregivers engaged in events/workshops around the Parents and Caregivers’ Guide to Critical Digital Engagement at eight schools.
– Four control schools (teachers, students, parents/caregivers) participating in pre- and post-evaluations.
– 16 total schools will be engaged: four with both teachers/students and parents/caregivers engaged; four with just teachers/students engaged; four with just parents/caregivers engaged; and four control schools engaged.

 

Key information to encourage interest

Applicants interested in providing this service must submit a proposal, including a breakdown of costs, which demonstrates the applicant’s capacity to:

– Support the development of a comprehensive pre- and post-assessment to evaluate how IREX’s curriculum improves digital and media engagement skills, attitudes, and behaviors around key competencies.
– Support the development of a pre- and post-assessment based on IREX’s Parents and Caregivers Guide to assess adults’ attitudes and behaviors.
– Plan and implement focus group discussions and/or key informant interviews.
– Collect, clean, and analyze data.
– Produce evaluation reports.

Proposals must be accompanied by a budget in sufficient detail to determine the price elements, resumes of key staff that will be assigned the project, a detailed description of the method used to perform the tasks outlined, and a list of five similar projects, with contact information for the clients.
