The SHARPE programme, working in the Somali and Gambella regions of Ethiopia, is using a market systems approach to improve livelihoods among refugees and host country nationals, and to improve the integration of refugees into the broader local economy. We will present results from our impact evaluation, which focused on the financial market system, and on the take-up and effectiveness of digital financial services among refugees, host populations, and women. First, we will describe the theory of change, and where we identified constraints to tackle using randomized trials. Second, we will report on the co-designed trials and their results, and third, we will describe progress towards the overall goals of the SHARPE programme.
Speakers;
- Alan de Brauw, IFPRI
