The Department for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy is a government department supported by 46 agencies and public bodies that was created in 2016 as a result of the merger between the former Department of Energy and Climate Change and Department for Business, Innovation and Skills. It is responsible for a number of UK Government policy areas such as business and industrial strategy, science, innovation, energy and climate change. The Department is in charge of developing and delivering a comprehensive industrial strategy and leading the Government’s relationships with businesses, along with securing affordable and clean energy supplies to the country. In particular, it deals also with ensuring cutting-edge research, science and innovation within UK.
