This online training programme aims to strengthen the capacities of practitioners in developing countries to better leverage data analysis and quantitative evidence to inform the design and evaluation of policies and programmes aimed at the achievement of national development objectives and SDGs. It is intended for professionals working on public policies in developing countries and wishing to use more data analysis to support policy formulation and evaluation. It targets, more specifically:

  • Public officials in charge of planning and commissioning evaluations;
  • Researchers from academic institutions who want to do more public policy evaluation work,
  • Professional evaluators who want to strengthen their quantitative skills; and
  • Any other professionals who need to strengthen their statistical analysis and in particular causal inference skills to be better positioned to deliver on their professional tasks.

The Call for Applications is open to the Government, academia and national evaluation societies and networks.

Composed of e-learning and online workshops, the training programme covers both descriptive analysis and causal inference with models such as matching techniques, regression discontinuity, instrumental variables study and difference-in-differences. It is delivered in English and free of charge. UN certificate will be provided upon the completion of the programme. More information is available in the enclosed syllabus.
