Location: Berlin

The fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989 represents a historic catalyst that led to changes in the world’s political, economic and cultural landscape. In its tumultuous aftermath, Eastern Europe witnessed the emergence of dozens of new states that partly form today’s European Union. The events in Berlin brought transformations to other parts of the world, including regions as far afield as Africa and Asia, and laid the groundwork for the world we experience today.

The Berlin Wall 33 event will be held in conjunction with the city’s celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Wall. This year’s conference titled, “In the Wake of the Russian-Ukraine Conflict” emphasizes the great changes that occurred in the wake of the fall of the Berlin Wall and symbolizes the many political, economic and cultural walls that still exist today.
