Independent Development Evaluation

Date(s): 28 – 30 September 2022

Independent Development Evaluation will organize the 2022 edition of the AfDB’s biennial Development Evaluation Week from 28 to 30 September 2022. The theme is “Building a stronger and more resilient Africa.” The event will be held virtually (online) through a series of webinars using web conference tools.

This year’s Development Evaluation Week is aligned with the preparation of the Bank’s next Ten-Year Strategy (TYS 2.0, 2023-2032), which sets out the strategic directions for the continent and the Bank. There are key development challenges and trends facing Africa: the economic challenges of public debt and domestic resource mobilization, infrastructure needs for energy, transport, health, and sanitation, as well as social challenges such as jobs for youth, fragility, and a lack of resilience to regional or global shocks.

Evaluation Week 2022 will explore, discuss, and share ideas on how the Bank’s Regional Member Countries and development partners can use evaluation to help build a resilient continent to face future challenges by looking at current and emerging issues that countries face. It will be an opportunity to gather relevant stakeholders from different backgrounds to engage in discussions around this theme.
